Case Study : Rebranding PinkLifeline
Here’s the detailed case study of a women sanitation and intimate hygiene brand named pinklifeline that needs a rebranding and requires help from the young and creative minds.
Business Branding Competition: Rebranding Pink Lifeline
Background:
In 2019, Anish George and his close friend Varun embarked on a mission to revolutionize menstrual health and hygiene through their startup, Pink Lifeline. Their venture focused on producing biodegradable sanitary napkins and natural intimate hygiene products. The journey began at their university in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where they garnered support from friends and family to launch their initiative. Despite initial successes, including winning a business plan championship by MakeIntern and pitching at IIM Bangalore, the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown brought their promising startup to a halt.
Challenges and Learnings:
The founders quickly realized the necessity of a strong team and expertise in various domains such as manufacturing, marketing, and legal compliance. The taboo surrounding menstruation in many parts of India also posed significant hurdles in gaining proper guidance and support. Their clear vision of providing affordable, biodegradable sanitary products was hampered by the substantial capital required for setting up manufacturing units and the complexities of licensing and paperwork.
Rebirth and Renewed Vision:
Fast forward to 2024, Anish and Varun have reunited with a broader, more experienced team, including Mohit, an expert in banking and finance, and Pragya, an advocate knowledgeable in law and business commencement. This new team is determined to revive their venture with a renewed focus and a strategic approach.
Vision and Mission:
Their vision is to ensure healthy periods for women and a sustainable environment for all. They aim to make biodegradable sanitary pads accessible to all women, especially in rural areas, fostering health, sustainability, and equality. The mission encompasses creating sustainable employment for vulnerable women, making the model self-sustaining and empowering women to operate independently.
